Jeff Clark Joins Oversight Project as Vice President of Litigation

Jeff Clark, the top regulatory official who recently departed the Trump White House where he had served as the Acting Director of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs since March 2025, has joined the Oversight Project as its vice president of litigation.

Clark, who previously worked as a partner at a major Washington, D.C., law firm and held leadership positions within the American Bar Association, also served as Assistant Attorney General for the Environment and Natural Resources Division and as Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division.

The Oversight Project said Clark’s appointment comes as the group seeks to expand its legal efforts to investigate government actions and pursue litigation tied to its mission.

The organization has filed tens of thousands of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and nearly 100 lawsuits since its founding in 2022.

Originally incubated by the Heritage Foundation, the Oversight Project has since grown into an independent entity focused on exposing government weaponization, fraud, and corruption at the federal, state, and local levels.

The group has also been involved in high-profile efforts to obtain and release government records and investigative materials, such as the release of audio from former President Joe Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur.

In a statement announcing Clark’s hire, Oversight Project President Mike Howell praised Clark’s track record, calling him a figure who “embodies the mission” of the organization and highlighting his experience navigating legal and political challenges.

Clark said he is “honored” to join the group and emphasized his intention to advance its legal strategy.

“Together, we will press the fight to expose anti-American movements and to de-weaponize the government through principled legal investigations,” he said.
